30-Day Extension Granted For Review Of Decision To Cancel Rescue Diving Pilot Project

Ottawa -- A thirty-day extension has been granted at
the request of Mr. Peter G. Bernard to complete the review of the decision to
cancel the rescue diving pilot project in British Columbia.
The appointment of Mr. Peter Bernard was announced by the
Honourable Herb Dhaliwal on March 15, 2001. A two-month deadline was given at
the time for the completion of the report. Mr. Bernard has submitted a request
to the Minister for an extension. In his letter, Mr. Bernard cited the need for
more time in order to produce a complete evaluation of the decision.
In response to Mr. BernardÂ's request, Minister Dhaliwal has
granted a thirty-day extension. Mr. Bernard will submit his report to the
Minister at the end of this period.
